The coursework at WVI is designed to build a strong Biblical foundation for understanding life and vocation as callings within the kingdom of God. The student will be expected to attend all courses, participate in all discussions, and complete all assigned work. Regular testing and evaluation will be conducted to ensure that the student is grasping the content and achieving the academic expectations for each course.
First year students are expected to participate in an apprenticeship for a minimum of 16 weeks. During their participation they will be subject to performance reviews. These reviews must be favorable and demonstrate patterns of personal and professional growth. Students must obtain a positive letter of recommendation from their employer upon the fulfillment of their apprenticeship.
The ministry portion of the WVI program is intended to help connect the head and heart to the hands. The student will be required to actively participate in local, community-driven ministry work and within their local church. Additionally, the student will be encouraged to grow in their leadership and develop a heart for serving God's people.
The Graduation Project will provide the opportunity for the student to apply all that will be learned through the academic work and apprenticeship experience. This required project will include a class presentation that provides a thorough overview of the business that the student participates with during their apprenticeship. The student will be expected to compose a thorough multimedia presentation regarding the vision, mission, and purpose of their business, conduct research to highlight the business structure, demonstrate knowledge of short and long-term plans of the business, and speak to the over all value their business brings to the industry and the community. This capstone project will be used by year to students to present to year one students as they consider their apprenticeship participation. Year two students will be expected to conduct a similar presentation but in addition will be expected to set forth an improvement/ development plan for their particular department. Alternately, students who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit will have the opportunity to plan and present on a business that they would like to/ plan to launch.
